Tru Blu Racing has been involved in the sport of HPV (Human Powered Vehicle) racing since early 2004.
HPV racing involves the development, construction and racing of a recumbent tricycle enclosed in an aerodynamic body or fairing. These vehicles are typically raced on a closed street circuit for a duration of 6 hours or 24 hours. With a team of 6-8 riders, HPV's are capable of reaching speeds of up to 65km/h during a race, averaging 40-45km/h over the duration of an event.
Tru Blu Racing is based on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, and was originally created as a mixture of school students and parents. The team has since evolved into a keen group of young adult cyclists and mountain bikers. The current rider and vehicle combination has recently achieved major success, winning the 2008 Australian International Pedal Prix, 2009 Wonthaggi HPV Grand Prix, and 2008-2010 Casey Cycling Festivals.
Whilst HPV Racing is a competitive sport, our main aim has always been to enjoy ourselves, and to engage in clean and positive racing on the track. It is this approach that has kept the team together for 7 years and will hopefully continue to do so for many years to come!
